Artist Guy Bell Selected for 6th Street Parking Deck Mural

The Downtown Little Rock Partnership selected artist Guy Bell to create a mural on the first floor of the parking deck at Scott and 6th street, now being called Baker’s Alley, in Downtown Little Rock.

Bell’s proposal was chosen from a review committee after all applications were in. The mural is approximately 900 square feet, and the area runs along a ramp that goes up to the second floor of the deck and will be an adaptation of a painting showing a bison descending ramps.

“I am honored for the opportunity to add to the visual landscape that is helping to redefine life in downtown little rock. My proposal is a composition of American Bison ascending and descending ramp structures. It is intended to examine the concepts of movement, history, and place,” Bell says. “We are fortunate that the leadership in downtown recognizes and supports our local artist community. I am excited to see what my contribution to downtown’s changing visual experience might inspire.”

Work on the mural will begin later this month and will be completed in early November.
