Chef Matthew Bell Heads to New York City

Over the past year, Chef Matthew Bell of South on Main has taken a very active role in the fight against childhood hunger through his involvement with No Kid Hungry. Tonight, he’ll be in New York City at the No Kid Hungry Heroes Dinner on Wall Street.
This intimate, multi-course dinner will not only celebrate the organization but also honor Susie Fogelson of the Food Network and Genevieve Lynch of Kenbe Foundation. Bell, along with 21 other chefs, will cook tableside for the evening’s guests. Other chefs involved include Stuart Brioza of State Bird Provisions in San Francisco, Alex Raji of La Vara in Brooklyn, and Sara Jenkins of Porsena in New York City, among others.
For Bell, this dinner is just another step in the right direction towards ending childhood hunger. “Growing up in rural Montana and now living in Little Rock, Arkansas, I’ve learned that childhood hunger has no borders. What makes me passionate about it is that there is a solution to this problem and it is so important to the future of our country to end it,” says Bell.
We were even able to get a little sneak peek at what the lucky guests at Bell’s table can expect this evening…
First Course: Seared Foie Gras with sourdough, cucumber, and blackberry
Second Course: Catfish Hoppin’ John with South on Main tasso and rice grits
Third Course: Roasted Duck Breast with cornmeal spatzle, spring carrots, and watercress
Congrats to Chef Bell and to all those involved.
