Copper Grill Changes Ownership

Copper Grill will see new ownership starting tomorrow (November 1) with former Cajun’s Wharf general manager Dan Kovach along with business partner Lelan Stice.
Copper Grill was opened in 2007 in the first floor of the 300 Third Tower, during the condo growth of the period, by experienced restauranteur Mary Beth Ringgold. The restaurant leaned heavily on a strong wine list and a diverse menu mostly featuring upscale American classics.
It has been a busy year for Ringgold who closed her flagship Cajun’s Wharf, which Kovach was a long-time employee, earlier this year after over 40 years. Copper Grill will be a much different transition thanks to Kovach’s experience with the restaurant group.
“As a star of Cajun’s Wharf for nearly two decades, I know Dan is the perfect fit to take over Copper Grill,” said Ringgold. “I wish him and Lelan the best of luck as they revamp Copper Grill and position it for even more success.”
Copper Grill recently underwent a significant remodel, and Kovach is taking over a strong restaurant in an area that is receiving renewed attention. This should provide plenty of room to grow and evolve the restaurant. Kovach says that he will not have any immediate changes, but does hint at bringing in several of the popular dishes from Cajun’s Wharf.
“While we don’t plan to make any significant changes to Copper Grill, we do hope to roll out a new menu by late November,” said Kovach. “We also look forward to offering nightly fresh seafood specials and signature Cajun’s Wharf offerings such as the Boston Casserole, Oysters Bienville, Crab Au Gratin and the Play-De-Do.”
The transfer will be completed on November 1st with Kovach and Stice having full ownership. Ringgold will maintain ownership of Capers restaurant and the attached market on Highway 10 as her sole remaining property.
