Growlers: Lost Forty Brunch Muffin, Stone's Throw Lime Shandy, Diamond Bear Double Release

Three Central Arkansas breweries have new beers coming on tap this week, starting today with Lost Forty’s regular Freshcut Monday release. The taproom today has the second release of Blueberry Brunch Muffin, a 4.5% ABV gose. This light drinker has a sour backbone with notes of vanilla, blueberries and lemon peel. It’s available today at 4 p.m. at the taproom both on draft and in four-packs to go. If you can’t make it to Lost Forty, keep your eyes peeled around town; there will be some limited distribution in Central and Northwest Arkansas.
Stone’s Throw Brewing also has a refreshing brew out this week to help battle the intensely hot weather. The MacPark location’s #NewBrewFriday is a Lime Shandy. This 4% ABV light crusher starts out as a kristalweizan, which is a wheat beer that’s been filtered for a clear ale that has no haze. A shandy sounds like the perfect way to cool down and start the weekend. You can try it for yourself at 4 p.m. Friday at the MacPark location.
On Saturday, Diamond Bear Brewing Company has two releases for your enjoyment. The first is a brand-new brew called Ryeno, a 4.5% ABV rye pilsner. Central Arkansas hasn’t seen very many (if any) rye pilsner releases, but you should expect a lager with some spice and floral notes that goes down smoothly. The second release is Diamond Bear’s annual Marzen-style brew called Fest. This traditional Oktoberfest brew comes in at 6.1% ABV and features a sweet malt and just enough hops to brace against fall weather. If we ever get fall weather, that is. Both Ryeno and Fest go on tap at Diamond Bear Saturday at 2 p.m.
Buffalo Brewing Company is starting to fill up the tapwall at its new Heights location. Owner Nolen Buffalo tells me half of the 16 taps on the wall are now pouring Buffalo beer. More options will be added over the next couple of weeks. Buffalo wanted to roll out the beer releases slowly to make sure his brewhouse keeps up with production. Buffalo is also working on a new brewing location that could get approval as early as this week; we will keep you updated on that news as soon as we hear anything.
Flyway Brewing has a special party planned for Saturday to celebrate its TV special with partner RNT Duck Calls in Stuttgart. RNT-V airs Saturday at 2 p.m. on The Sportsman Channel, and Flyway is hosting a watch party for the occasion. The taproom will have its Flying Duck Amber Ale on tap and have duck wings coming out of the kitchen. There will also be several giveaways during the event. Flyway opens at 11 a.m., and people will start getting there early. If you want to enjoy the watch party at 2 p.m., plan on arriving during lunch time.
No new beer this week from the guys at Rebel Kettle Brewing Company. However, the brewery does have a big concert coming up Saturday night. National Park Radio, a nationally known folk rock band, will be playing on the Rebel Kettle stage. National Park Radio got their start in Harrison and have played around the country since 2012. The concert starts at 8 p.m., and there’s no cover mentioned on the Facebook event page. It should be an excellent show; make plans to attend.
