Growlers: Lost Forty Seltzer Release, Pink Boots Brew Day, Rebel Kettle Spring Cleanin'

Current local beer recommendation: Low Flock New England-style IPA at Flyway Brewing (available on tap and in crowlers or growlers to go).
Lost Forty Brewing today releases its second small batch of hard seltzer, testing another round of flavors for what’s almost certain to be a permanent line in the coming months. Today’s Freshcut Monday release features two seltzers: black cherry and strawberry/blackberry. Both seltzers come in at 5% ABV and 120 calories. These seltzers are naturally gluten-free and made with natural fruit flavors; you won’t find artificial sweeteners in these. Lost Forty released its first small-batch seltzer back in October. In our interview with John Beachboard last week, he told us Lost Forty would be working on developing seltzers to answer a growing demand for the product. Again, since these are pilot batches, both seltzers are only available on tap at the Lost Forty taproom today at 4 p.m. Also this week, Lost Forty will hold a tap takeover at Taco Mama in Hot Springs during Taco Mama’s taco-eating contest. That event starts tomorrow at 6 p.m.
We wanted to recognize an event from this past weekend that we missed in last week’s Growlers. Members of Arkansas’ Pink Boots Society celebrated International Women’s Day at Flyway Brewing on Sunday with a special brew day. Pink Boots Society is a national organization with local chapters all over the country that celebrate and support women in the brewing industry. Ladies who work at breweries all over Arkansas collaborated on the beer, which should be ready in early April. It will be sold at Flyway and several other breweries and restaurants. Proceeds from sales of the Women’s Day beer will go to benefit the Arkansas Pink Boots Society chapter. We will let you know as soon as this special beer is ready for you to try. By the way, if you stop by Flyway this Wednesday, you’ll be able to get some excellent Honduran food from El Sur Street Food Co. The truck will be set up at Flyway starting at 4 p.m.
Rebel Kettle Brewing Company is cleaning out its hop fridge this week for its annual Spring Cleanin’ double dry-hopped double IPA release. The 2020 version is a new recipe, featuring Citra, Amarillo and Sabro hops. At 8% ABV, this juicy monster resonates with bright aromas and tart, citrus flavor notes. Spring is here, and this Spring Cleanin’ DIPA should pair nicely with the warmer temperatures. You can pick it up at Rebel Kettle’s weekly 4:30 Thursday event on draft and in 16-ounce four-packs to go.
Stone’s Throw Brewing this week has two of its classics coming back on tap at its MacPark location. For this week’s #NewBrewFriday, Bruxelles Belgian Blonde and Amarillo Warrior Imperial IPA go back on the tap wall. Bruxelles is a 6.5% ABV Belgian ale with a pale golden hue and a traditional banana and clove profile from the Belgian yeast. It’s a traditional springtime ale that is clean and refreshing. For those who want a bigger punch, Amarillo Warrior is a 9% ABV double IPA brewed with Amarillo, Simcoe and Warrior hops. The Pilsen and Amber malt bill gives this brew a deeper color, while the hops provide an aggressive, delicious bite. Both brews hit the tap wall at 4 p.m. Friday at the MacPark taproom. For the Stifft Station location, Stone’s Throw this week is hosting Crepe Coop food truck on Friday, Southern Standard on Saturday and Luncheria Alicia on Sunday.
And Arkansas’ most well-known beer has an official launch date for 2020. Ozark Beer Company’s outstanding BDCS will be available this coming April. This year, there are no ticketed events; the brewery will be open for everybody who comes by. On Friday, April 17, BDCS debuts with the 2020 version and the brewers’ variants. In previous years, this has included an Onyx Coffee collaboration that is an absolute can’t-miss. Friday will only feature BDCS sales on tap; four-pack sales start on Saturday and Sunday. New this year: you can order your four-packs online ahead of time and pick them up April 18-26. Ozark hasn’t provided a link to order BDCS online yet, but we know that online sales will start on April 8. Limit two four-packs per person. If you can’t make it up to Rogers for the event, don’t fret. BDCS will again get its statewide distribution with plenty making it to Central Arkansas. This is truly one of the best beers that comes from the state, so you’ll want to make sure you get a four-pack before it runs out.
