Growlers: Lost Forty Wild Barrels Sale, Stone's Throw London Fog

Current local beer recommendation: Hell Camino Chipotle Porter from Rebel Kettle Brewing Company (available in four-packs to go from the taproom)
It’s a quiet week around Arkansas’ beer scene, but there are still a few items that you should know about. The biggest one starts today at Lost Forty Brewing, where the taproom is unloading all of its old bottles from its excellent Wild Barrels Project. Eleven different sours in large-format bottles will be available for $12 each, including a barrel-aged barleywine and Lost Forty’s Wild Cider. In all, more than 100 bottles are available for sale. This is first come, first served; Lost Forty will not reserve any of these bottles, so you have to be there to buy it. The sale starts today at 4 p.m. at the Lost Forty taproom.
Stone’s Throw Brewing this week is putting an updated spin on one of its classics. The brewery’s #NewBrewFriday release is London Fog Wee Heavy. It’s a variation on its flagship Urquhart Wee Heavy Scotch ale. London Fog Wee Heavy is a 9% ABV Scotch ale infused with Earl Grey tea and vanilla beans for a brewery homage to the reliable hot tea beverage. That ABV will definitely help you get warm, while Stone’s Throw’s capable Scotch ale should be a tasty framework for brew. London Fog Wee Heavy is a super-small batch; there’s only one keg available starting at 4 p.m. at the MacPark location on Friday.
A former Great American Beer Festival gold medal winner is back at Diamond Bear Brewing Company. Irish Red is on tap and available in cans at the Arkansas Ale House right now. Irish Red is a 5.9% ABV ale made with roasted Caramel 80 malt and Fuggles and Willamette hops. In 2005, it was judged best Irish-style red ale at GABF, one of four medals Diamond Bear won that decade. Pick up a six pack or have a glass this week at the Diamond Bear taproom.
There are no new releases this week from Rebel Kettle Brewing Company, but the brewery is holding a special event tomorrow night. Rebel Kettle is the second Central Arkansas restaurant to be featured on Burgers, Brew & Que on the Cooking Channel. The show is hosted by world-renowned chef Michael Symon and highlights creative dishes around the country. Rebel Kettle will be featured in the episode that airs Tuesday at 8 p.m., and the brewery is holding a special watch party. There’s no admission or tickets needed; just show up a little before 8 p.m. and celebrate Rebel Kettle’s appearance. Last week, Burgers, Brew & Que featured Rebel’s East Village neighbors Count Porkula.
