Growlers: Rebel Kettle and Stone's Throw do Pumpkin Pie Beers, Flyway and Diamond Bear Cornhole Tournament

Jess McMullen at Flyway Brewing Company tells me the shutdown of the Broadway Bridge hasn’t hurt business at all, especially if you don’t try to cross the river at rush hour. To entice Little Rockers, Flyway has debuted Leap of Faith’s Heatless Habanero Pale Ale. This collaboration with Dunbar Community Garden is brewed with Aji Dulce peppers that taste like habaneros, but without the heat. And Flyway is challenging neighbor brewers Diamond Bear in a cornhole tournament. Each brewery will host a single-elimination cornhole tournament Oct. 13, with the top teams facing off against each other Oct. 27. If you want to sign up a team to compete, you can do so at either brewery for $10 a team.
If you like experimental beer, you already know that Rebel Kettle puts out some interesting stuff every week. This week is no exception, as Rebel Kettle has its new Premature Infatuation on tap for Growler Tuesday. This one is a pumpkin pie cream stout and is only available for sale in take-home growlers. Then for 4:30 Thursday, you really won’t want to miss the new Billy Badass, a bourbon-barrel aged Belgian dubbel aged on cherries. This one promises to be a big, sipping beer that will get you ready for fall.
It’s a big week for Hot Springs-based Bubba Brews, as Jonathan Martin and his team are heading to Denver to participate in the Great American Beer Festival. Bubba Brews will have its beers served alongside craft beer from hundreds of breweries all around the country. If you aren’t heading to Denver, you can still get two new beers from Bubba Brews at Oaklawn. The brewery has just released its Southern Rok Oktoberfest and Scooter Trash IPA at the horse track and casino.
Stone’s Throw Brewing has a couple of new releases coming out this Friday. Stone’s Throw will be debuting its Kristallweisse and its Pumpkin Pie Porter in the taproom at 4 p.m. on Friday. And this coming weekend, Stone’s Throw is holding a rummage sale in its biergarten. That will be Saturday from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Buffalo Brewing Company at The Water Buffalo isn’t wasting any time plugging into Little Rock’s beer community. This week, Nolen Buffalo and his team worked with Blood Eagle Brewing Company to brew up three of Buffalo Brewing’s own beers. Blood Eagle and Buffalo Brewing are working on plans to get Blood Eagle’s beer on tap at The Water Buffalo soon. Also this week, look for a new beer from upstart brewers 501 Brewing to go on tap at The Water Buffalo.
Damgoode Brews has three new beers on tap to tell you about. The brewery has put out its Arktoberfest lager and Java the Porter, which is a coffee-infused dark porter with vanilla added. Also, Damgoode is teaming up with the Museum of Discovery, its next door neighbor. The River Market location has a new one called Septembeer on tap. This one is a classic Oktoberfest-style ale. Portions of every pint sold at the River Market location will be donated to the Museum of Discovery.
Lost Forty Brewing has an easy-drinker for its Fresh Cut Monday series. The brewery will be serving up pints of its Rustic Saison, a 5-percent ABV session beer that promises plenty of malt and a tart, crisp finish. That one is out today and is available in the taproom and for growlers to take home.
