Growlers: Rebel Kettle Triple Release, Flyway Bulleit Free Range

Thanksgiving week is here, which usually means a quiet week without much happening. That’s not the case this year, starting with Rebel Kettle and an insane Black Friday line-up. The brewery is releasing three beers that day to go with its Black Friday brunch menu. First up is Mouthful of Cookies, the second pastry stout this fall from Rebel Kettle. Mouthful of Cookies is brewed with Oreo cookies, cocoa, milk sugar and vanilla, and comes in at a serious 9.9% ABV. Then there’s Maple Cupping, a 7.6% ABV maple coffee porter brewed with 20 gallons of cold brew concentrate. And finally, there’s Dust and Diamond, an 8.3% ABV imperial IPA brewed with four different hops. As if that weren’t enough, all three are available in four-pack cans to go. Rebel Kettle has also come up with a Black Friday brunch menu that pairs with the three new beers; both the brunch and brews are available starting at 10 a.m. on Friday.
Also on Friday, Flyway Brewing has a special treat for those on the opposite side of the Arkansas River. Flyway is one of only two breweries in the country this year to get bourbon barrels from Bulleit Distillery, and the brew team decided to rest Free Range brown ale in the barrels for six months. That bourbon barrel-aged brew will be released Friday at the taproom. In addition, Flyway will have some special merchandise offers for Black Friday shoppers; no word yet on the details for those deals. Also, Flyway currently has Flying Duck cans back in stock, so stop in this week and grab a six-pack before they sell out.
And one final Black Friday release to tell you about – Stone’s Throw Brewing is, for the first time, debuting a new release at its Stifft Station taproom. Black Hops will hit the tapwall Friday when the taproom opens at noon. Black Hops is a Cascadian dark ale that blends the grain bill of a classic porter with the hop profile of an American IPA. The result is a flavor mash-up of citrusy hops, roasted malts and rich chocolate. Grab a growlers before heading to the Hogs game against Missouri at War Memorial Friday.
If you don’t want to wait until after Thanksgiving, Lost Forty Brewing has you covered today. Its Freshcut Monday release is HighER Praise, a riff on the brewery’s traditional Belgian-style tripel. HighER Praise is a Belgian quadrupel that weighs in at a hefty 9.2% ABV. Expect tons of flavor, including roasted banana, clove, cherry, fig and chocolate. Lost Forty only made half a barrel of HighER Praise, so if you’re interested in trying it, you better be at the taproom when Freshcut Monday hits at 4 p.m.
And if you haven’t checked in at Prestonrose Farm and Brewing Company lately, you really should fix that. Head there Sunday for the annual release of Rick and Phil’s Coffee Stout. This year’s release represents the brewery’s first barrel-fermented beer to date. Rick and Phil’s Coffee Stout went straight from the brewing phase into a Rock Town Distillery bourbon barrel where it fermented from start to finish. This one is super limited; it’s only available in a few bottles, and Prestonrose is limiting it to one bottle per person. You can grab your bottle at the Paris taproom this coming Sunday at noon.
