A classic brew comes back on tap this week at Rebel Kettle with the 4:30 Thursday release of White Limo. White Limo is a golden stout, which means it has the color of a lighter ale but with all the full-body, roasted malt notes of a stout. It’s a 5.5 percent ABV brew with some good complexity that offers a lot to consider as you sip. White Limo was on opening day at Rebel Kettle, and it’s become a regular favorite since then.
Lost Forty Brewing is testing out a small batch pale ale today for Freshcut Monday that could be coming back this summer. Month of Sundays Amarillo Pale is a 5. 8 percent ABV American pale ale that Lost Forty brewed with the goal of capturing the spirit of Sundays. The pale ale is made with both Amarillo and Crystal hops for a strong aroma and citrus profile. Lost Forty says if people like it, they may just bring it back in a few months. You can get it today at the taproom by the glass, as well as growlers and crowlers to go.
Cinco de Mayo is this weekend, and that means Blue Canoe is bringing back its excellent Gunwhales Lime Gose. This is an extremely easy drinking ale that is mildly tart and very refreshing. It’s only at the taproom Saturday, where Blue Canoe will also have $2 tacos for the holiday, as well as nachos and other food specials. Blue Canoe’s warehouse is closed on Saturday for a private event, so you’ll have to get to the taproom for the festivities.
For a couple of years, Flyway Brewing has packaged its four signature beers into bombers and distributing them to grocery and liquor stores around town. The brewery added two more to its bomber lineup with the release of Ninekiller IPA and Magdalene Tripel. The beers are two more of Flyway’s permanent collection. For the labels, Flyway turned to Strickland Designs for some truly gorgeous work. Check out the designs here, as well as a potential spoiler for the next bomber release. You can get the bombers in the taproom now and in stores soon. While you’re at the taproom, make sure you check out the latest Free Range Origin release brewed with Finca Peña Oscura coffee roasted by Mylo Coffee Co. There’s not much of this one left, and it is really tasty, so get there early this week to try it.
Stone’s Throw has a busy weekend coming up, starting with its #NewBrewFriday release event. It’s the debut of Eureka SMASH (it stands for “single malt and single hop”). This one is brewed with Eureka hops, a hop used for bittering that provides some citrus flavors, and Full Pint malt, a mildly sweet and malty grain that has some honey notes. Check it out at 4 p.m. Friday. Then on Saturday at 5 p.m., Stone’s Throw is sponsoring the MacArthur Park 5k Run that raises money for park projects. You can still register to run if you’re interested.
