“It was all a dream … I used to read Word Up Magazine,” said David Hall, Jr. For David and his brothers who own and operate Hall Bros 2 Go, what started out as a dream became a family mission. The Hall family has been serving fresh produce and delicious food from their store K. Hall & Sons on Wright Ave for nearly 50 years. Two years ago, eldest brother David Jr. told his father David Sr. about his dream to start a food truck. He dreamed of taking the truck on the road to do festivals and fairs. It just so happened that his dad would soon come across a truck for sale.
“My father told me that he supported my dream, but that he thought I should do it together with my brothers and I agreed,” said David Jr. The brothers got to work quickly after acquiring the new truck. They wrapped the truck with its recognizable green background and caricature representations of themselves (David Jr., Daron, and Devin). Brainstorming the menu would be the next step for the Halls. Gathering at baby brother Devin’s apartment, the brothers began to work through the recipes for their new business venture.
“We want to add our own flavor to some of the K Hall staples as well experimenting with some new things. One of those new items happens to be Devin’s signature Bro-Made punches. It’s my favorite thing that we do because it’s a hot seller and I helped create it” said Devin.
For now Soul Food Sunday is a special occasion happening when the brothers are not busy with private catering events, or competing and winning bodybuilding events as brother Daron did a few weeks ago. To stay up to date on when you can catch some of the best soul food in Arkansas, make sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram at Hallbros2go.
