Hanaroo Sushi Bar Closes

Some of you were perceptive enough to note in our earlier announcement that Three Fold’s new pop-up restaurant, Haybird, is going into the spot currently occupied by Hanaroo Sushi.
We have been told that Saturday marks the last day of service for Hanaroo. There is no immediate word about the future of the business, but all indications are that it is a permanent closing, not a relocation.
Hanaroo moved to the location at 215 Center Street in December 2017, which was Three Fold’s original location. Their original location on Capitol Avenue in the Hall-Davidson Building was purchased and is now being developed as an AC Hotel by Marriot. Hanaroo was one of the last tenants of that building before the purchase.
The move to Center street gave them a mostly move-in ready location that required relatively little changes. In fact, the familiarity with the space, the layout, and the built-in customer base are what attracted Three Fold owner Lisa Zhang to take up the lease once again for their new location. It is also a large cause of the trouble Hanaroo had converting their Capitol Avenue clientele over to the new location. Being one of those frequent eaters of Hanaroo in the past, I can tell you the original location led to me eating there frequently as I worked in the various bank buildings surrounding the restaurant.
We will continue to keep an ear out for any news regarding Hanaroo to see if they do decide to relocate in the future.
