Help Empower The Future for Women in Arkansas by Dining Out This Weekend

Who doesn’t like to eat good food, especially when doing so supports an even better cause?
On Saturday, Aug. 6, Central Arkansans can make a difference by eating at a handful of restaurants that have partnered with the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas (WFA) for their second annual Dine Out To Make A Difference event.
The list boasts of over fifteen restaurants and includes local favorites and more:

  • Raduno
  • Trio’s Restaurant
  • The Fold: Botanas & Bar
  • At the Corner
  • Kemuri
  • Dempsey Bakery
  • Copper Grill
  • Diamond Bear
  • Blue Canoe
  • Zin Wine Bar
  • Moe’s Southwestern Grill
  • Kiyens
  • Arthur’s Prime Steakhouse
  • Ocean’s at Arthur’s
  • Red Mango
  • River City Coffee

The second year for the event, WFA wanted to hone in on the back-to-school season to get people thinking about women and education in Arkansas. WFA volunteer Abby Olivier says, “We’re trying to get a conversation going about women in education as well as encourage young girls to enter the STEM field.”
The event falls on tax-free weekend, making it a no brainer to grab a bite while you’re out getting ready for school. The restaurants are donating anywhere from 5 to 20 percent of their proceeds to the cause.
This year promises to be even bigger than the last, as Olivier continues, “We did it on a smaller scale last year and focused on women-owned restaurants. This year we decided we didn’t want to exclude men who might want to get involved and opened it up.”
Plus, it’s easy to see why any local restaurant might want to get involved. Abbey Rolfe, Director of Operations for The Fold: Botanas & Bar and Raduno says, “We got involved with this fantastic organization/fundraiser because we at The Fold and Raduno have several educated, empowered women helping make delicious food and service happen and we want to help ensure there will be more empowered, educated women to help us in the future.”
Truth – when women succeed, Arkansas succeeds.
There will also be a special brunch on Saturday at At The Corner, a women and family-owned business. Olivier said, “We came up with the idea of the ‘Breakfast Club’ which is a brunch for women. You come out and network and chat with your peers.”
At The Corner Co-Owner Helen Grace King said she and her team are glad to be involved and excited for the special brunch at the eatery on Saturday.
“As a local modern diner, owned and operated by three women, three Arkansas born and raised, and the other a University of Arkansas graduate, supporting an organization like the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas resonates with our heart, home, and business,” King tells us. “By partnering with Dine Out to Make a Difference, @ The Corner has an opportunity to support more Arkansas women so they have the right resources to build their own economic destiny. We are looking forward to Saturday and are so honored that the women of WFA chose to start their Saturday morning with brunch @ The Corner.”
