In Search Of "The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie"? Try Lynne's Sweet Somethings

The baking world seems well-suited to small, homegrown, start-up businesses looking to carve out a special niche in the market. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed getting to know talented bakers specializing in pies, cakes, macarons, candies, cinnamon rolls, and all sorts of sweet treats…and I’m always happy to spread the word about a good product that deserves attention.
Recently, I was introduced to Little Rock’s latest artisan, Lynne’s Sweet Somethings. Read on, I think you’ll like what you see.
Lynne Phillips began perfecting her chocolate chip cookie recipe about 5 years ago. She was looking for the “perfect chewy chocolate chip cookie”, went through dozens and dozens of recipes, did some tweaking and experimentation, and eventually settled on a finished product some are calling the “best cookie in the universe.” A bold claim, however, I will say she makes a mean chocolate chip cookie.
She says, “I started bringing my cookies as my contribution to dinner parties, Super Bowl parties, cookouts, and the like at friends’ homes. Everyone loved them and started asking me to make them more often.” She finally decided to put her full weight into her cookie business, and hopes to bring her talents to the forefront of the Little Rock sweets scene.
She’s using high-quality ingredients (organic eggs, Guittard chocolate, Maldon sea salt) to create a chocolate chip cookie that’s a step up from anything you’ll find at the grocery store. And truthfully, there aren’t too many bakeries in Little Rock focusing on the cookie market. These cookies are soft and gooey, with a rich, dark chocolate and a wonderful touch of salt to accompany the sweet. Order cookies by the dozen or half-dozen.
Currently, Lynne’s Sweet Somethings focuses on chocolate chip cookies, but these can be augmented with walnuts, pecans, or hazelnuts if desired. She’ll also do special order desserts. A few of her most popular items include angel food cake, pound cake, flour less chocolate cake, and muffins.
