Little Rock Gears Up for Restaurant Month

It is almost that time of year again in the heat of the summer when restaurants across Little Rock join together for Little Rock Restaurant Month. Like last year, the Little Rock Convention and Visitor’s Bureau works with restuarants to run specials and deals in a different area of the city each week.
The timing of restaurant month is strategic, it comes at the low point of the year for most restaurants which is typically the month of August. The extra promotion helps restuarants find new customers and reconnect with old customers through the discounts offered.
“Restaurant Month is a great time to celebrate our many dining establishments, and the various types of cuisine they offer,” said LRCVB President & CEO, Gretchen Hall. She added, “Little Rock’s food scene has really taken off in recent years. In addition to our historic landmark establishments, we have seen a rise in local artisan and farm-to-table fare. And, the craft brews, wines and spirits sector has become wildly popular. Add to the mix our many unique neighborhoods, and you see that there is something for everyone.”
There is a focus on 5 different districts of the city, one for each week of August. The deals offered typically consist of percentages off, free appetizers or desserts, or buy one get one specials. Some restaurants offer up certain menu items or even a full prix fixe dinner special for the promotion period. Each week on Monday afternoons we will post out some of the top specials along with the full list.
The promotion period kicks off next week with the Downtown district. This covers everything in the River Market, SOMA, Downtown, and the Hanger Hill/East Village district. After that things move West for the second week, Midtown for the third, Airport and Southwest Districts for the fourth, and wraps up with the River Market Hall for the final week. Full list and boundaries are below.
Make it a point to get out each week and try something, the local restaurant industry always counts on this period to carry them through the end of summer. Tag us with #RockCityEats and #DineLR on instagram with your food adventures and we will share out some as well.
