Matt Bell Transitioning to Nashville Restaurant, Plans to Sell South on Main

News out of Nashville today announced that long-time Little Rock Chef Matt Bell is taking over the executive chef role at Gray & Dudley, which is part of the 21c Hotel in Nashville. He stated that he intends to sell South on Main to new ownership.
Bell follows in the footsteps of his close friend Levon Wallace, who was the original chef at Gray & Dudley. Wallace was followed by Rob Newton, who recently left the position. Bell will begin full time in February.
Bell, a native of Missoula, Mont., opened South on Main in 2013 after leaving Ashley’s at the Capital Hotel. The southern-focused restaurant became a strong point in the revitalization of the South Main corridor. The restaurant has a strong partnership with The Oxford American for music programming, something that will continue under new ownership. Over the past several years, South on Main has shifted to a strong music venue by starting their own concert series in addition to the Oxford programming.
In the article from The Nashville Scene, Bell says he intends to sell South on Main to new ownership, and that service will remain uninterrupted during the transition to the new leadership. Bell was not able to tell us anything about the new ownership or when the process will begin.
We will continue to update with new information as we get it.
