Fayetteville Roots festival is right around the corner. What started as a music-focused event, Roots has grown to become the absolute best annual culinary festival in the state. This year’s event features over 40 chefs spread out across 6 events and 5 locations. It is so much that our annual one story preview can no longer do the culinary programming justice. So we are breaking it down by day this year.
Along with the increase in culinary programming, there is also a dedicated culinary pass that will get you into all the major culinary events. At $199, it is a huge saving over buying food passes individually like in previous years if you want to attend everything. It is well worth it to be fed like a king for 4 days from some of the top chefs in this area of the country.
This year Roots kicks off a few miles north in Bentonville with a launch party at The Record featuring 13 chefs and music by Mavis Staples and Booker T. Jones. The Record is an absolutely fantastic spot to hold a kickoff party for the event, here is a look at the venue from a couple of years ago when it opened.
The food will be an elevated tasting experience with chefs from areas as close as a few blocks down the road and as far away as Russia. Here are the chefs featured for the opening event.

The party comes included with the culinary pass, or you can purchase tickets for $50, all the proceeds go to support community outreach programming put on by the Roots Festival. The event opens at 5:30 and music starts around 7.
If you want something slightly more intimate, there will also be a seated Roots Dinner at the Hive in Bentonville that night starting at 5. This will feature five courses, each from a different chef participating in Roots, along with cocktail pairings by Pink House Alchemy. Tickets for this are not included in the culinary pass and are limited, you can purchase tickets here for $100.
