Rock City Eats is Hiring For 2020

Rock City Eats has been covering the Central Arkansas food scene for nearly seven years now. We’ve had many excellent writers and photographers come and go in that time, and for the past couple of years, it’s primarily been me and editor-in-chief Greg Henderson doing most of the work. For 2020, we are focusing on bringing in new talent to the Rock City Eats team.
In case you haven’t read us very closely, Rock City Eats is dedicated to building up Central Arkansas’ restaurant scene. In a market that is still exceedingly dominated by national chain restaurants, our mission is to spotlight the local folks. We’re passionate about presenting the stories of Arkansas’ locally-owned restaurants and showcasing the amazing food and dedicated business owners that are at the heart of our community.
Restaurants like Chick-Fil-A, Texas Roadhouse and Golden Corral don’t need any help getting their business out in the public’s eye. They enjoy massive marketing budgets and nationwide advertising campaigns that promote their food. But the local restaurant doesn’t have any of that. They probably have an Instagram or a Facebook page; if they get lucky, they might appear on a local news segment. So we devote our attention to making sure they get your attention.
If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, Rock City Eats is hiring! Specifically, we are looking for writers to regularly contribute to our site, whether it’s once a month or a couple of stories a week. You can write as many or as few stories as you would like. We will have story assignments ready for you so that you clearly know who to talk to, what to ask and when to turn your story in. Photography experience is a big plus but is not necessary. What is necessary is a desire to tell the stories of Central Arkansas’ food scene.
