The Purple Cow is one of Central Arkansas’ oldest burger joints, and now it’s coming to North Little Rock. The new location will be on Warden Road in the Dillard’s parking lot and will be built close to a new Tacos 4 Life. This location of The Purple Cow will be a little different. It’s going to be the first to offer beer on tap. The Purple Cow says it will be featuring Arkansas craft selections, which is great news for everyone. Owners say this location should be ready by fall of this year. The Purple Cow has two locations in Little Rock, plus one each in Conway and Hot Springs.
Folks in downtown Little Rock now have the option for German food for lunch. Fassler Hall opened this past weekend at 311 E. Capitol Ave. The beer hall features plenty of sausages, as well as sandwiches, salads, pretzels and more. And German beer enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy; outside of maybe Flying Saucer, Fassler Hall easily has the most comprehensive German beer tap menu in the area. Spaten, Paulaner, Hofbrav and more highlight the lineup, while other taps are dedicated to local craft beer. Fassler Hall will keep some pretty generous hours as well. The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. We will have a first look at the food from Fassler tomorrow.
Coming this weekend, you have the chance to try a lot of Arkansas flavor at no cost. The event is Local Food Legends, and it’s this Sunday at Heifer International’s Village and Urban Farm. From 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., you’ll get to enjoy samples from restaurants like South on Main, Trio’s, The Root Café and even the soon-to-come Cathead’s Diner. While this is in fact free for everyone, Heifer International encourages everyone to sign up ahead of time; you can do so on the Facebook event page. All those who cast a vote for their favorite dish will also be entered for a chance to win 16 weeks of fresh product from New Share Produce Cooperative.
