Rumbles: Art of the Bar at South on Main, Table 28 New Year's Dinner Set

News
One of the coolest holiday shopping traditions in Little Rock makes its return Sunday with South on Main’s Art of the Bar event. More than a dozen local artists and craftsmen will set up shop inside the restaurant, offering a unique chance to buy some special gifts and support some of Little Rock’s most talented makers. And as if that wasn’t reason enough to go, South on Main will have a special drink menu with holiday-themed cocktails and other beverages for you to sip on while you shop. Art of the Bar is open to the public from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday evening, but if you want to beat the crowd, you can purchase an early-entry ticket for $25 and get in at 5 p.m. The ticket also includes a special cocktail and shopping tote.
Speaking of holiday traditions, one of our favorites is welcoming the new year with Table 28 and The Burgundy Hotel in West Little Rock. Chef Scott Rains is one of the city’s most talented chefs and always has something creative up his sleeve for this annual party. Reservations for the four-course New Year’s Eve dinner are available now for $80 per person by calling 501-224-2828. The menu for the dinner has not yet been posted.
And wrapping up our coverage of Arkansas Christmas traditions, Saturday is the lighting ceremony and fireworks display at the state Capitol, and this year you have a delicious spot to watch the festivities from. Kent Walker Artisan Cheese is holding a party for the event, complete with music from Nashville singer/songwriter Amelia White. Kent Walker’s expanded tasting room will be open, and as always will feature local craft beer options to go with Kent Walker’s excellent cheese offerings. The party starts at 5 p.m.
Don’t forget, Friday is the grand re-opening for The Pizzeria (formerly at Terry’s Finer Foods) in its new location on Kavanaugh Blvd. The restaurant will be open for dinner at 5 p.m.
La Terraza Rum and Lounge in Hillcrest is holding a very reasonably priced rum dinner one week from today. The dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 7, features Flor de Caña rum from Nicaragua in 4-, 7- and 12-year aging tastings. La Terraza will also be offering a discounted rate on Flor de Caña’s 18-year rum. Tickets to the dinner are just $30 a person, which is really a good deal considering the three paired rum servings. Make your reservation at 501-251-8261.
As for dinner tonight, if you have small children to feed, you might want to consider a visit to West Little Rock’s The Main Cheese. The restaurant has begun a Wednesday promotion offering one free kid’s meal with the purchase of an adult entrée. This deal is offered every Wednesday under the restaurant’s new management, so make plans to check it out.
One of Little Rock’s hardest working bakeries has added another location where you can find its treats. Brown Sugar Bakeshop is now available at Stratton’s Market at Dugan’s Pub, just a few buildings away from where Brown Sugar used to operate on 3rd Street. Stratton’s Market is carrying Brown Sugar’s brownies, donuts and cupcakes every day. Flavors of each dessert item will vary depending on availability.
