Rumbles: Bruno's Open for Lunch, Stone's Throw's Kent Walker Food Menu, HeART of the Bar Returns

News
It took several weeks after closing down Bruno’s Deli to get lunch service going again, but Bruno’s Little Italy is now open from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Bruno’s closed the deli after many customers requested restaurant seating to enjoy their lunch. After closing the deli, Bruno’s began moving its inventory and equipment over to the Little Italy side to accommodate the requests. In addition to the sandwich, soup and salad menu that Bruno’s Deli featured, the lunch menu has several pasta dishes and a build-your-own personal pie pizza option. Bruno’s Little Italy is still open from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. for dinner Tuesday through Saturday.
Stone’s Throw Brewing has teamed up with Kent Walker Artisan Cheese to provide a full food menu at the taproom on a full-time basis. Stone’s Throw had partnered with Little Rock’s food trucks to provide its food, but says that proved to be unreliable at times. Kent Walker’s paninis, salads and soups will be made out of a concession trailer that will be permanently stationed at Stone’s Throw. Eventually, Stone’s Throw hopes to develop a weekend brunch menu with Kent Walker’s Artisan Cheese as well. The new menu launched earlier this week.
Whole Hog Café has come to the downtown area, at least on a temporary basis. The Whole Hog food truck is parking every weekday for lunch on 3rd Street across from the Capitol as long as the legislative session is going on, which could last until late spring. The food truck has nearly all of the restaurant menu to offer, though it does not sell its smoked meats as a platter, just as a sandwich. If you’re interested, stop by the truck anytime between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
South on Main is bringing back its annual Valentine’s tradition HeART of the Bar in a week and a half. The marketplace will feature around a dozen local craftsmen, artists and designers, as well as plenty of cocktails from South on Main’s excellent bar program. This year, HeART of the Bar will feature a raffle drawing for several prize packages. Raffle tickets can be purchased individually, but every purchase you make from an artist gets you an extra ticket for free. HeART of the Bar is Feb. 4 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Little Rock’s most addictive sauce is now available in Hot Springs. Bonta Toscana garlic sauce can now be purchased at The Savory Pantry on Central Avenue. The Savory Pantry offers plenty of specialty food items, including Arkansas products like Izard Chocolate and Lambrecht Gourmet Toffee. Of course, you don’t have to go to Hot Springs to get your fix. Bonta Toscana can be found in several locations around town, including Eggshells Kitchen Company, Kent Walker Artisan Cheese, Stratton’s Market and the Hillcrest Farmers Market on Saturdays
Speaking of Hot Springs, the city is quickly growing its food and beverage scene. This past week, we’ve previewed the new Bubba Brews taproom coming to the downtown area, as well as The Waters Hotel and Avenue Restaurant.
The Main Cheese closed down last week, but it could be open again in just a matter of days. The Clean Eatery has purchased The Main Cheese, so we spoke with owner Ryan Merritt-McGehee about his plans for the space and how he is expanding his meal service business.
