Rumbles: Buffalo Brewing Company to Open Soon, Tacos 4 Life Comes to Little Rock, Sweet Love Back in Business

News
It’s been months of planning and applying for permits, but brewing and gardening supply retailer The Water Buffalo has received its final clearance to open a brewery. Buffalo Brewing Company will operate out of a small space in the rear of the shop, selling both its own beers and beers from around town. Earlier this year, owner Nolan Buffalo said Buffalo Brewing recipes would come from supplies that are sold in the retail store. The brewery is promising more information in the coming days, and we’ll make sure to include it in next week’s Growlers feature.
Popular Mexican-themed restaurant Tacos 4 Life has announced it will open its fourth location in Little Rock. The restaurant will be located in the Shackleford Crossing shopping center and is slated for opening sometime early next year. Tacos 4 Life naturally sells tacos, chips and dip, and other Mexican dishes, but it’s the restaurant’s charitable giving that really sets it apart. For every meal sold, Tacos 4 Life donates a meal to the international charity Feed My Starving Children to help kids in the countries of Swaziland and Honduras.
Good news for those of you who mourned January’s loss of Sweet Love bakery. Owner Kelli Marks is taking dessert orders once again, albeit without a storefront this time. Marks will be making wedding cakes, pies, cookies and even macarons to order, and even delivering them to your Little Rock home or place of business ($10 delivery fee applies). Sweet Love closed its Cantrell Road store earlier this year after four years of business. To place your order, email kelli@sweetlovebakes.com or send a direct message to Sweet Love via Facebook.
You may remember famed Little Rock Restaurant 1620 (recently referred to as Savoy) closed their doors at the first of the year. The restaurant lived on as a private event venue under the same ownership hosting frequent popup dinners. We have received word that the ownership has sold the building. 1620 will host one final dinner in the space before the sell is complete on September 10th. Cost is $40, contact Sean Page for more details at 407-694-5507 or at sean_m_page@yahoo.com for more info.
Cache Restaurant in the River Market is ending its Saturday brunch service. Cache began offering the Saturday service earlier this year, but business considerations have forced it to cancel. Cache will still be open on Saturdays for dinner and will continue working its more popular Sunday brunch.
Oh, and speaking of brunch, we have put together the be-all, end-all resource for finding the best local brunch option near you. Because what could be better than sleeping in and still getting to enjoy breakfast?
There are very few restaurants in Little Rock that can top kBird for sheer quality of food. We were lucky enough to get a seat at one of the Thai restaurant’s special ticketed dinners; check out our look back here.
If you are heading to Fayetteville for the Hogs’ football game this weekend, do yourself a favor and pull over for a Mountainburger at Dairy Dream. It’s a unique and important part of Arkansas culinary history.
