Rumbles: Van Lang Becomes Kimchi Korean Restaurant, Raduno Wine Dinner

News
Van Lang Cuisine Restaurant on University Avenue has changed its name to Kimchi Korean Restaurant. A Korean family purchased the former Vietnamese eatery a while back and has been working more Korean items into the menu. While there is still a number of Chinese and Vietnamese items on the menu, the focus is on Korean classics like bibimbap, bulgogi and jamppong. Like Van Lang before it, Kimchi is open 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Raduno Brick Oven and Barroom is holding its first-ever wine dinner in conjunction with De Nux Distributors and Screen Door Cellars winery out of Northern California. The event is next week on Wednesday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m., and features four courses prepared by chef Alex Smith of The Fold, each with a Screen Door Cellar pairing. Raduno hasn’t released the menu yet, but with the work Smith has done at The Fold recently, I’m pretty confident in saying you won’t be disappointed. Tickets to the wine dinner are $71 each and are on sale now. Seating is limited, so make sure to order soon.
We mentioned it Monday in our Growlers feature, but you need to buy tickets right now if you want to watch Riverfest performances from the patio at Damgoode Pies River Market. Performances you’ll be able to see from the patio include Amasa Hines, Wiz Khalifa and Cage the Elephant. Tickets are available for tables of four or six, though they are going fast. To find tickets, go to Damgoode Pies’ Facebook page, click on the “Events” tab and select the day you want to go.
The largest single-day canned food drive in the country is coming to the state this Saturday, when the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance holds the Stamp Out Hunger event. To participate, all you have to do is set canned food items in a bag beside your mailbox on Saturday, and the mail carrier does the rest. Every can donated in Pulaski County will go to fight hunger right here in Central Arkansas. Last year, more than 80 million pounds of food was donated to fight hunger around the country.
