Good news for lovers of Damgoode Pies … the River Market location is open: “You should know that we’re still in the ‘work out the kinks’ phase. That means we have a limited menu and make no claims as to when we close. Otherwise, it’s Damgoode as usual.”
Don’t miss out on tomorrow’s Natchez wine dinner. The meal features five courses (with pairings) and music by Bonnie Montgomery for only $55. Cocktail hour starts at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. Here’s the full menu … First: Poema Cava (Gulf Red Grouper Pate with Fried Shallot Rings, Grapefruit, Dijon, Radish), Second: St. Francis Chardonnay (Louisiana Shrimp and B&P Andouille “Purloo” Anson Mills Charleston Gold Rice), Third: St. Francis Claret (Rabbit Tortelli, Chinese Cabbage, Roast Kohlrabi, Farm Cheese), Forth: St. Francis Zinfandel (Brisket Rillettes, Date Preserves, Crispy Shiitake, Arugula, Yukon Gold Latkas), Fifth: Taylor’s Fine Tawny Porto (Zara’s brûléed strawberry shortcake tart with wine caramel). I’ve been to one of these dinners and can 100% vouch for not only the quality but also the affordability. It’s one of the best deals in town.
