Rumbles: Lucky Lou's Downtown, Three Fold Price Hike, Maumelle Food Truck Festival

With Blue Canoe Brewing Company officially closed, it didn’t take long for the brewery’s premium spot on 3rd Street downtown to get a new tenant. Well, mostly new. Lucky Lou’s LLC has filed for a mixed drink permit with Arkansas Beverage Control ahead of opening a new bar and restaurant at the location. We hadn’t heard of Lucky Lou’s before, but after a little digging, we found this is a new concept headed up by Laura Berryhill. You remember Berryhill was once a brewer and part-owner of Blue Canoe, and now it appears she is partnering up with a new group for this effort. We will keep an eye on the development at the upcoming Lucky Lou’s and let you know when more information about the bar becomes available.
Three Fold Noodles and Dumpling Co. in downtown Little Rock has posted that it has raised prices on its menu. In a Facebook post, the restaurant revealed that its suppliers have raised prices over the past several months due at least in part to the trade war between China and the United States. Three Fold has raised prices on several of its items by an average of 68 cents. The restaurant says the price hike came after months of trying to hold the course, but in the end the increase was necessary to maintain Three Fold’s quality and to continue providing good wages and benefits for its employees. If you haven’t been to Three Fold, the restaurant makes some of the best authentic Chinese food you can find, specializing in dumplings, noodles and steamed buns.
This weekend, Maumelle will play host to some of the best food trucks in Central Arkansas. It’s the Taste of Maumelle Food Truck Festival Saturday at Maumelle Middle School. From 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., the festival will feature nearly a dozen trucks, including fan favorites Delta Biscuit Company and The Rock Brick Oven Pizza. Admission to the event is free; just pay for your food and you’re all set. A portion of the proceeds will go to Maumelle Middle School.
And on Sunday is Rebel Kettle’s annual crawfish boil party. The Third Annual 6th Street Crawfish Boil will run from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and feature crawfish prepared by none other than The Faded Rose, which has been making delicious crawfish for decades now. Rebel Kettle will officially start the day with brunch at 10 a.m.; crawfish won’t hit the table until 4 p.m. The party will also feature live music and plenty of beer specials throughout the day. Prices haven’t been released, though there’s no admission cost to show up.
There aren’t too many places in Central Arkansas where you can try Filipino food, but there is one food truck dedicated to presenting food from the Asian country. We stopped by Adobo To Go for a look at how the truck is putting Filipino twists on food you know and love.
And there aren’t many better ways to spend an evening in Little Rock than at one of our city’s excellent local breweries. We took a look at the tours offered by Arkansas Brews Cruise, which look to teach about beer and let folks enjoy it in a responsible manner.
