Rumbles: Mylo Expansion Opens Saturday, The Main Cheese Shutting Down, B-Side is Back in Business

News
Mylo Coffee Co. is closed until Saturday to finish the expansion into a portion of what used to be Afterthought Bistro and Bar. The crew at Mylo has been hard at work repurposing the former private dining area into expanded seating and more room for the kitchen for months now. Once it reopens this weekend, the new area will be accessible through a new doorway in the west wall near the front entrance. After the expansion is finished, work will begin in earnest on the new restaurant (which has yet to be named). The restaurant will feature a menu rooted in wood-fired oven cooking and a dedicated concert area that will seat around 100 people.
The Main Cheese is closing for good after this weekend. The grilled cheese restaurant is on its third ownership team, and even though recent efforts to pick up business seemed to do well, it wasn’t enough to keep the doors open. The Main Cheese will be open 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. today and tomorrow, and 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Stratton’s Market is getting into the wine dinner game starting this month. The dinner is set for next Wednesday and looks to be a solid pairing run by chef Stephen Burrow. Local delivery service Day-Je-Nay that we profiled a few months ago is expanding their delivery area significantly. They started as only downtown and they are now adding Heights, Hillcrest, Midtown, and a small sliver of west Little Rock. They also increased their offerings to include one healthy option a day to complement the two standard offerings. Here is the new coverage map.
Smoothie shop and Indian restaurant Juice Leaf in downtown Little Rock is closed at the moment. A sign on the door indicates the closure is temporary while ownership works on a new menu and other changes. However, Juice Leaf’s Facebook page is no longer there, and its Twitter account hasn’t been active since August. We’ll keep you posted, but it appears this closure might be permanent.
In a bit of good news, a formerly closed restaurant is back open again. B-Side closed late last year when it and Lilly’s Dim Sum shut down the Rodney Parham location. However, B-Side has new ownership now and is back in business. Hours are 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The menu is heavily focused on brunch and business lunch favorites.
And Sweet Loves’ owner and pastry chef Kelli Marks is back at work as well. Marks has set up shop at the kitchen run by Simply the Best Catering, which also operates Canvas at the Arkansas Arts Center. Marks will be making a few desserts every month for Canvas, which is releasing its new menu on Jan. 25. Marks will also be taking orders for private clients, including wedding cakes and catering events. While she won’t have a retail location, Marks is now working full time making desserts. You can still catch her latest creations on her Facebook and Instagram pages.
The guys at Rebel Kettle Brewing Company took a trip to Springfield, Missouri, this weekend and came back with some new partners. Rebel Kettle will be collaborating with craft beer giants Mother’s Brewing on a new beer coming out later this year. We don’t have any other details than that, but these are two tremendous breweries, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
