Harbor Oaks Restaurant in Pine Bluff announces closing. Reader Zac Cosner tells the golf course restaurant after 19 years in service. No word on if this is a permanent closing or not.
I Love Juice Bar Announces Midtown Location: I Love Juice bar, a small chain based out of Nashville, TN, announced the first Arkansas location in the Midtowne Shopping Center. The franchise owners are members of the Keet family, who run the local Taziki’s restaurants. The build out should be quick with the juice bar expected to open in late September.
Skinny J’s is open in Argenta. Jonesboro based Skinny J’s celebrated their first full week open on their 3rd location (others in Jonesboro and Paragould) and their first in Central Arkansas last week.
Izard Chocolate opens store front: Izard has been a favorite for dark chocolate lovers for about a year now in Little Rock. Nathaniel Izard opened the doors to the Izard Chocolate store front on Beechwood in Hillcrest late last week. Get your first look here.

South on Main Beard Watch Party: By now, you may have heard that Chef Matt Bell and his crew over at South on Main will be serving up a fine meal at the James Beard Foundation dinner on August 17 in New York City. Here’s the full menu. Want to go to the watch party at South on Main and see everything live from New York? Get your tickets here.
3rd annual Iron Sommelier competition at Ya Ya’s. Aug 26. 6pm. 10 courses each paired with two wines. Guests vote on which wine is best paired with the food. Sommelier with the most votes at end of the night wins! $100 per person, reservations required. (501) 821-1144
Moody Brews at Historic Arkansas Museum. On this Friday night (8/14) from 5-8pm Moody Brews will be sampling their french chardonnay barrel aged strong saison (“Katchiri’s Bier”) and their lighter saison brewed with orange peel and hibiscus flowers (“Aria’s Bier”) during the gallery exhibit for Katherine Rutter who created the artwork on their farmhouse ales.

Restaurant Specials

Raduno Brick Oven and Barroom – Raduno is running a Lasagna on Thursday, and also introducing Asparagus al Forno as an appetizer special all week. Be sure to check out their  Happy Hour specials $2 off draft beers and $1 off wines by the glass and specialty cocktails, Tue-Fri 3-6 PM)
Ristorante Capeo – Specials this week include Cioppino Fish Stew ($27) Filet of Cod Cooked With Clams and Shrimp in a Tomato and Fish Broth and a Vegetable Risoto ($17).

Little Rock Restaurant Month – The Little Rock Visitor’s Bureau is running specials all month long for local restaurants as a part of their Restaurant Month. We recapped some of our favorite specials from the list last week. Be sure to keep an eye on participating restaurants’ Facebook pages, some are having special dishes run each week like this 3 course weekly special from Caio Bacci. OLD SCHOOL CAESAR, Caesar salad, spiced rubbed pork with pork belly beans and cucumber crema, wrapped up with a chocolate creme brûlée.
