As if you needed another reason to get excited for Rebel Kettle Brewing Company’s upcoming grand opening, the brewery has hired Jim Pat to serve as its head chef. Pat last worked with The Southern Gourmasian, both in the restaurant and back in the food truck days. Pat tells me he will be presenting a simple menu in Rebel Kettle’s kitchen that will keep the focus on the beer. We will certainly have more information from Rebel Kettle as its early March grand opening approaches.
Crawfish season will start early this year at The Faded Rose. Thanks to warmer than average weather, they will start doing seasonal crawfish boils starting next Tuesday (Feb 9th) at 4:00 which is Mardi Gras. The schedule will flip back to Wednesday nights the following week and continue until the end of crawfish season (usually early May). If you have never been, the Rose’s crawfish boils are legendary and certainly the best in town. Here is a look at the history of the boils.
After staying confined to Central Arkansas for its first year, Lost Forty Brewing is expanding to Northwest Arkansas. Starting in March, customers will be able to find Love Honey Bock, Bare Bones Pilsner, Lost Forty Pale Ale and Day Drinker on shelves and in restaurants. Lost Forty’s Rockhound IPA will arrive in Northwest Arkansas in May. Besides Little Rock and North Little Rock, you can also find Lost Forty at locations in Saline County.
Former Yellow Rocket Concepts beverage director Lee Edwards is coming back to Little Rock for a guest bartending shift at South on Main on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Edwards will be teaming up with head barman David Burnette for the evening. You may recall, Edwards and Burnette worked together at The Capital Hotel about 10 years ago. These are two of the best mixologists our city has ever seen, so you won’t want to miss this one.
Boulevard Bread Company has opened up its fourth location, this one inside the Medical Towers 1 building at Baptist Hospital. This isn’t Boulevard’s first foray into a health care center; it previously had a location inside UAMS. Boulevard at Baptist Hospital opened on Monday. It features a full menu of coffee, pastries, sandwiches and soups.

February 4th Local Music Night at The Southern Gourmasian – The Southern Gourmasian continues their local music night, this week with a performance by Maddie Robinson.
February 6th HeART of The Bar: a Handmade Holiday Market – South on Main once again will host its semi-regular craft market, featuring more than a dozen local artisans with their handmade jewelry, crafts, art and more.
February 6th SoMa Mardi Gras Parade 2016 – The parade itself will feature floats, bands, stilt-walkers and much more. You can also enjoy special festivities up and down South Main, including The Root’s beard-growing competition and a masquerade ball at the Villa Marie.
February 7th Super Bowl Party at Flyway Brewing – Guest chef Trevor Swedenburg of South on Main will be serving up watch party favorites, including a special Chex mix, Frito chili pies, homemade kielbasa and bacon-wrapped water chestnuts.
February 18th Roxy’s Twisted Sandwiches Soft Opening – New Central Arkansas food truck Roxy’s Twisted Sandwiches will make their opening official by setting up shop at Flyway Brewing in North Little Rock.
March 10th Tiki Night at Trio’s – Trio’s Restaurant will host Tiki night featuring craft Tiki cocktails,pupus and other island themed treats, special musical guests and prizes for most fun costumes. Cost will be $30 and will require reservations (available soon) in the Trio’s Pavilion from 6:00-9:00.
