Rumbles: Skye's Bistro Closes, Honey Pies Adds Cakes, South on Main Tomato Class

We’re not sure when it became official, but Skye’s Little Bistro in downtown Little Rock is closed. A handwritten sign at the former bistro announces the closing, along with a message to watch for “Big news coming soon.” Stay tuned for more on that. Stratton’s Market is still open, and now Dugan’s has to decide what to do with that space. Skye’s Little Bistro opened April 2016, serving meat-and-cheese plates and several hot dishes. It was created by Skye Ward, daughter of Don Dugan and Tasha Stratton. Local chef Stephen Burrow also worked there for a time before joining Conway’s John Daly Steakhouse as its executive chef.
Honey Pies is expanding and changing its menu, and those changes include (for the first time) cakes. The display case now has six-inch cakes and cake slices as walk-in purchases. Flavors include confetti cake, triple chocolate and German chocolate. You can also make orders for larger cakes ahead of time. But of course Honey Pies isn’t abandoning its roots. The pie business is still going strong, including the summer seasonal “Strawberry Short-pie.” It features a buttery pie crust layered with house made strawberry compote topped with freshly whipped cream and pie crust crumbles. Honey Pies will keep its regular business hours during Memorial Day weekend. However, it promises to be busy, so make sure you get your orders in as soon as possible.

Tacos 4 Life opened its first two locations in Conway and Fayetteville before exploding, opening locations in several spots in Arkansas, as well as Texas and North Carolina. The restaurant group donates 22 cents from every meal sold to Feed My Starting Children, a nonprofit that supports food initiatives in 60 countries around the world.

Conway’s food scene got yet another upgrade this week. We took a first look at Katmandu Momo and a few of the dozens of new dishes the business is putting out.
