Diners in downtown Little Rock now have a dedicated seafood restaurant to enjoy for lunch and dinner. The Capital’s Seafood House on 3rd St. near the Capitol looks close to opening. The Capital’s Seafood House is located in the same building that last housed Fresh: An Urban Eatery and Old World Pizza before that. I have to say, this is one ambitious opening. The restaurant features a massive menu of seafood options, from individual platters to sprawling dinners that can feed up to 14 people. And the menu items are also eye-catching; Maine lobster, snow crab, shrimp and mussels pop up pretty regularly. The website for The Capital’s Seafood House says the restaurant is open daily from 10 a.m. until midnight, which is pretty shocking considering its location. Still, we hope they find plenty of success going forward. We’ll drop in at The Capital’s Seafood House soon and get you a look at what the new spot has to offer.
This weekend, you can add the town of Ozark to the growing list of Arkansas communities that have their own brewery. Six Mile Brewery is holding its grand opening celebration on Saturday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. We first heard of this opening from our friend John the Beer Snob, who reports the name comes from owner Karra Busch’s love of running and her childhood home on Six Mile Creek. Six Mile Brewery will open with at least six of its own creations on tap, including a pilsner, an Irish red and an American pale ale. Six Mile joins the ranks of other Arkansas small-town breweries like Prestonrose in Paris, Slate Rock in Amity and Rapp’s Barren in Mountain Home.
One of our favorite pizza destinations anywhere in Arkansas is joining the weekend brunch game. The Pizzeria in the Heights this weekend will debut its Saturday and Sunday brunch. Owner Jacquelyn Pittman moved The Pizzeria from Terry’s Finer Foods to its current location two years ago, and this brunch service is partly a celebration of the occasion. The new menu will be non-pizza, instead, they will focus on traditional Italian brunch dishes, soups, and a handful of their signature pizzas served on flatbread instead of in pizza form. Additionally, they will have a bloody Mary bar, mimosas, and some traditional Italian cocktails to complement the food.
If you are in Conway tomorrow evening, you would be well advised to check out the gorgeous-looking six-course tasting dinner being held at WunderHaus on Locust Avenue. The German restaurant has partnered with Rabbit Ridge Farms to present the “Meat and Greet” dinner. The courses all sound amazing, including a bone broth soup with dumplings and mushrooms, a sous vide top round with red wine reduction, and a spinach and squash stuffed chicken thigh. Tickets to the dinner are $85 per person and include your tax and gratuity. Make reservations by emailing wunderhaus.conway@gmail.com or by calling 501-358-6806.
There’s finally going to be a restaurant at The Afterthought in Hillcrest. We dropped in on the construction work to get the first details of the new Mexican restaurant El Mezcal coming next year.
And the Arkansas Arts Center has a new eatery opening today. We stopped in for a First Look at Watercolor in the Park and found a menu with plenty of pedigree.
