Sip on Some Fall Wines With the Seasonal Lineup from By the Glass

Fall brings new atmosphere and flavors to our glass. It may be unseasonably warm today, but the changes are all around us.
We got with By the Glass wine bar owner Susan Crosby to highlight some perfect wines on their menu for fall that are appearing on their rotating seasonal menu. There is even a white thrown in for some lighter days.
Austerity Cabernet: This cabernet sauvignon comes from the Paso Robles region of California and is absolutely perfect for fall with its mix of sweet fruit and bold, layered palate. At first, you’ll get hints of cherry followed by licorice and sweet oak; giving it a nice fall flavor. Bold cab drinkers will love its tannin, while the fruit-forward flavors will appeal to those who are just stepping into red wines.
The Franc: A unique wine made of 100% cabernet franc grapes, this red wine makes me think of the comfort foods served during the fall and winter seasons. It’s very aromatic with sweet and spicy notes of fresh herbs and cloves and follows with fruit and hints of black pepper.
The Counselor: This is another fruit forward red, but it’s the notes of nutmeg and violets that set it apart from the Austerity and also make it perfect for those cooler months ahead. Smooth and drinkable, The Counselor is a great choice for both traditional cab drinkers and those newer to reds.
19 Crimes Hard Chard: White wine drinkers rejoice, this one is for you! This is not your traditional refreshing white wine. This Australian chardonnay pays homage to the penal roots of Australia with its label and story. Marketed as “criminally intense” this bold chardonnay brings stone fruit aromas and notes of toasty oak, butterscotch, and vanilla. While chardonnay is typically a divisive wine, the boldness of this hard chard will appeal to both white and red connoisseurs.
