The Meteor Cafe to Close December 1

Stifft Station cafe and bike shop The Meteor will close its Little Rock location at the end of this month. Its last day is December 1. The Meteor took over the former Spokes bicycle shop in July 2017 and quickly became a reliable community hub for the Stifft Station and Capitol View neighborhoods. The closure is part of a relocation of The Meteor’s operations to Bentonville.
In a press release, Chris St. Peter, co-owner of The Meteor, said: “We are proud to have served the Little Rock community for the past two-and-a-half years and could not be more grateful for its support. On a personal level, this was a very difficult business decision. Little Rock is where The Meteor first came to be and where my family and I called home. While this chapter is closing, we look forward to the future success of The Meteor in its new home in Northwest Arkansas.”
The new Bentonville location at 401 SE D Street is currently open. The cafe is open daily from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. and focuses on traditional breakfast items as well as Roman-style pizzas for lunch. The Meteor also recently expanded its business to Austin, Texas. While neither location features an emphasis on cycling as intense as the Little Rock spot did, it is still present in both locations with a small selection of kits, accessories and parts.
St. Peter says The Meteor will continue focusing on expansion of its cafe/bike shop model in other markets, though there’s no timetable or hints about future locations. Here in Little Rock, the relocation means a premium business venue has opened up in Stifft Station, which is growing more popular. We will be watching the spot closely to see what business snaps it up in the future.
