The World Cheese Dip Championship is Back for 2021

Like many annual events in the area, the World Cheese Dip Championship was mostly put on hold last year during the pandemic. Instead a small virtual event was held, but it did little to fill the craving from what has become Little Rock’s signature dish. Thankfully this year it is back and ready to go with some considerate changes to the format to keep the event safe for everyone who attends.

Full disclosure, I am the chair of this year’s World Cheese Dip Championship. It is an event I have helped judge for the past several years and I am stepping up to the chair role this year mostly due to the mission behind the parent organization, Harmony Health. More on that in a bit.

This year’s Cheese Dip Championship will be on October 10th. The move to a Sunday allows the event to move down to the River Market pavilion and amphitheater, which was important to create a controlled, safe environment. All of the cheese dip participants will be located under the pavilion, and guests will be required to wear mask while in that area. Once you have your dip and chips, you can spread out in the amphitheater seats or surrounding grounds to enjoy your cheesy goodness.

The event this year will be trimmed to 2,500 participants to ensure good distancing, so tickets will likely go fast and pre-ordering is highly encouraged. You can pre-order tickets here.

If you are interested in participating as a restaurant or amature, there is still time to sign up through the end of this week. Simply fill out the form here and send it in.

While cheese dip is quite possibly the best liquid substance on the planet, the World Cheese Dip Festival does a lot to help the community. The event is put on by Harmony Health Clinic, which provides dental work, prescriptions, health and wellness exams, and much more to patients who have no access to healthcare, or healthcare is unaffordable. Last year they powered over 400 clinic visits here in Little Rock through the cheese dip festival.

The festival will run from 12-4 on Sunday, October 10th. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for kids and you get access to all the great cheese dip you can handle. Pre-order tickets here.
