If there is one food area of the city that is under appreciated more than others it is Southwest Little Rock. If you were to look for the second area it would be the airport. Thankfully there are some good excuses to get out to both this week as Little Rock Restaurant Month focuses on the two under the radar areas of the city.
Naturally you are going to get some great taquerias in these areas. Taqueria Jaliscoz, Cantina Cinco De Mayo, and Taqueria La Tapatia are in the area just to name a few. There is a wide variety of specials for the taquerias and Mexican joints, most are featuring some special selections. It would be perfect if you wanted to just do a taco crawl down Baseline, Stagecoach, Geyer Springs.
Of course, it is not all about Taquerias. One of our favorite hidden gems is Lassis Inn, which is featuring $2 off. There is also Down Home Restaurant and Bobbie D’s, both of which have some great southern food. Plus, naturally, there is a Taziki’s everywhere you turn including another in this week’s lineup.
We are not making picks this week since there are only 13 restaurants involved, you could easily hit them all if you try, and you absolutely should. There are some really great things to discover in the area. This is also an area where I would encourage you to get outside the participants because there are even more gems around like Monkey Burger, Homer’s, Taqueria Guadalupana, Taqueria Samantha, Sandy’s Homeplace cafe, and more.
